Be Humble

I greet you in Jesus' precious name! It is Monday morning the 8th of May 2023 and this is your friend, Angus Buchan a thought for today. We started in Galatians 6 and I'm reading verse 3:

"If anyone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself."

Then 1 Peter 5:5 says:

"God resists the proud but gives Grace to the humble."

A man by the name of Elisha Coles said: "It is one of the hardest matters under the sun to become nothing in ourselves." Isn't it so true?

I remember a story, I don't know whether it's true or not, of the great heavyweight boxing champion of the world, Muhammad Ali... I think he was the greatest actually. He was flying in an aeroplane and there was a bit of turbulence in the air. The captain of the plane sent a message to the passengers: "Please buckle up, we going into a little bit of stormy weather..." This young, petite little air hostess was walking up the aisle checking that everybody had put on their safety belts. She came to the seat of the great heavyweight boxing champion of the world and she saw that he hadn't buckled up. She said "Sir..." in a small, little timid voice "Please could you buckle up?" Muhammad Ali said, he said: "Superman don't buckle up!" and this little voice came back to him from the air hostess, said: "But Superman doesn't fly in aeroplanes, please buckle up."

We need to remain humble - it is a very hard thing to do for all of us...

Another story of a very high-profile businessman, rushing to the airport to catch his plane - as he came up to the counter to get his ticket the air hostess said: "Sorry sir, the bookings are closed, the plane is leaving." He said to her: "Do you know who I am? I need to be on that plane!" She said just hang on a minute sir as she got onto the overhead mic, which went right through the whole airport - she says: "I have a gentleman standing in front of me who doesn't know who he is, could someone please help him?"

Humble yourself and the Lord will raise you up! Have a wonderful day Jesus bless you and goodbye.
