The Prayer of Faith

And a very good morning to you - It is the 4th February, Friday morning and the year 2022. This is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

If we go to James, right at the back of the New Testament, James 5:16-18:

“The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man (or woman) avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature just like ours and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain. And it did not rain on the land for 3 years and 6 months and he prayed again and the heaven gave rain and the earth produced fruit."

I just feel this morning that we need more faith. We need more faith just to make one day at a time, don’t we? I can hear somebody saying, “Maybe just one hour at a time.” Now, the Lord says that we need to pray the prayer of faith and He will supply our needs, not our wants - There is a big difference, but our needs. You need a job. You need healing for a member of your family. You need vision... That is a need. Wants are: "I want a new motorcar or I want to travel the world."

We are going to pray this morning for you, that's right, The Holy Spirit has laid on my heart to pray the prayer of faith for you. You know I got a voice mail, just the other day, from a very dear friend in Douglas, in the Northern Cape, the biggest province in South Africa. He says in that message that they have had 520mm of rain since that prayer meeting we had in the desert, in the dust, the fire raging and the heat. Since that day 520 mm of rain spread right over that time - That is 21 inches.

Now I want to say to you today, can God not answer your prayers? You see the Bible tells us that Elijah was just a man like you and me. There was nothing supernatural about him but he prayed the prayer of faith. You see, God does not answer prayer... God answers the prayer of faith. And that is what I want to do with you today. I really want to pray the prayer of faith. You say to me: “Angus is that a righteous thing to do?” Absolutely!

If we look at the Gospel of Luke, the disciples came to Jesus and said, “Lord, please increase our faith.”

Luke 17:5

And that is what I want to do. I want to pray with you today that God would increase your faith to believe Him for the miracle that you are waiting for. And then once you have asked Him, start thanking Him and let the Lord do the rest. Please pray this prayer after me:

Dear Lord Jesus,
I come before You today and Lord, I don’t see much light at the end of the tunnel.
In fact, sometimes it is just like blackness but Lord, by faith, just like Elijah, I am asking you for a miracle in my life. In order for that miracle to take place, I need faith to believe for it. So, Lord, I am joining my prayer now with Uncle Angus and I am believing for a miracle in my life. I thank You, by faith, that it is going to come to pass.
In Jesus’s Name
Amen.

God bless you and have a wonderful day.
Goodbye.
