The Lord Is My Shepherd

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, the 26th of January, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

Well, as you can probably hear, there is beautiful life-giving rain, falling on my tin roof yet again. In this particular area, we have had a tremendous heat wave and our crops have been taking a lot of strain, but this gentle, beautiful rain from Jesus is resurrecting them as I talk to you now. How are you feeling today in your heart? Are you feeling lonely? Are you feeling fearful? Are you feeling deserted?

Well, I want to do something for you. I want to read to you probably the most famous psalm in the whole Bible. Yes, it's a prayer and it is written by a man who walked so close with God and yet so often failed Him but this man knew how to repent, he knew how to say sorry and God forgave him.

We are reading Psalm 23, a psalm of David.

He says:

“The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.
He makes me to lie down in [b]green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.
He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.
Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever.”

Amen.

Jesus bless you today as you put your hand in the hand of the Shepherd who has promised that He will never leave you, that He will never forsake you. (Hebrews 13:5)

God bless you and goodbye.
