The Word Of God

I greet you in Jesus’ precious name! It is Thursday morning, it is the 15th of June, 2023, and this is your friend, Angus Buchan, with a thought for today.

A man’s steps are of the Lord; How then can a man understand his own way?”
Proverbs 20:24

“You will keep him in perfect peace,
Whose mind is stayed on You,
Because he trusts in You.
Trust in the Lord forever,
For in Yah, the Lord, is everlasting strength”.
Isaiah 26:3-4

I just want to say, my dear friends, that we need to stop questioning God and start obeying Him. We need to stop nit-picking the Bible. The Word is very simple. It is designed for ordinary people, like you and me, and we just need to believe it. “Why?” you ask. Because He always has our best interest at heart. I want to use an illustration. Have you ever watched a little baby interacting with its mother? I love doing that, maybe because I am getting a little more mature, a little wise. I love to sit and watch the way a little baby trusts its mother implicitly. It is beautiful.

You know, as a farmer, often a cow will give birth to a newborn calf in a field, and the mother will hide that calf. It's quite incredible. Then she will wander off, graze and eat grass for quite some time, maybe for a few hours. The other cows will walk past that calf and that calf will not move. Humans will walk past that calf, it will not move, a predator can walk past and it will not move. But as soon as the mother comes back, the calf will stand up and go and suckle its mother straight away. That calf knows its mother. Why are you and I always questioning the Word of God? It really concerns me.

There are some men who are well-respected theologians, who are trying to pull the Bible apart. I want to tell you, the Bible is Jesus Christ in print. We have no right to discuss or even question the Word of God. We either believe it or we disbelieve it, and the most unhappy people I meet are the ones who are always debating on whether the Word of God is true or false. For me, I believe it from Genesis to Revelation and it has never once failed me. If you want to have peace in your heart today, you need to start to trust and obey. Do you remember that beautiful old hymn that I learned when I became a new Christian? It was written in the 1800’s. The words are still indelibly printed in my heart:

When we walk with the Lord
In the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way;
While we do His good will,
He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey,
For there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus,
 But to trust and obey.

Jesus bless you!

Have a wonderful day,
Goodbye.
