Stuck in the Mud

So the sun stood still in the midst of heaven, and did not hasten to go down for about a whole day. And there has been no day like that, before it or after it, that the Lord heeded the voice of a man; for the Lord fought for Israel.
— Joshua 10:13-14

Our Heavenly Father is the Miracle Worker.

“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.”
Hebrews 11:1.

St Augustines said faith is to believe what you cannot see and the reward of that faith is to see what you believed. Joshua believed and he saw his miracle. A miracle of cosmic proportion, when the earth 'ceased rotating' for a time. Since God created Heaven and Earth with a mere word, John 1:1: "In the beginning was the Word…” This is quite possible and there has been no day like it before or since. (See Joshua 10:14)

Can this same God not answer our requests too? Definitely.

I remember being asked to speak to some farmers in the Kroomie area of the Eastern Cape. There had been a devastating time of drought and they had asked me to come down to encourage the farmers. When I arrived, on the first day, I felt the Lord, Holy Spirit, tell me to tell the farmers that the rain would come before the end of this campaign; which is going to be a series of meetings on different farms. We had wonderful services. The folk were so excited, full of anticipation for the forthcoming rain.

As time went on, there was no rain in sight. The farmers kept asking me: “Where is this rain you are talking about, Angus?” I retorted, "It is coming." It came down to the last night - I will never forget it, in a little place called Kroomie... We were meeting in a tin shed. The cars came driving in. I was so distraught, so tired and homesick, sitting on my own around the back of the shed in a cow stall. As I got up to go into the meeting to start the service, I thought I saw a flash of lightning on the vast, flat horizon but I went in anyway. The crowd wasn’t very warm towards me, understandably so... still no rain.

Last night, last message, last meeting!

I got up to preach and as I started to preach I heard drops of rain falling on the tin roof. Pitter-patter, pitter-patter! I started getting excited and I started speaking louder. The heavier the rain fell, the louder I started shouting. We saw 32mm of rain that night, how could I ever forget? I stood at the doorway watching the cars trying to get out after the meeting - stuck in the mud! Oh, we went home rejoicing, my Miracle Working Weather Man!

If He can make the sun stand still for a whole day, He can answer your miracle. God bless you.
