Provider

“Oh, fear the Lord, you His saints!`
There is no want to those who fear Him.”
Psalms 34:9

The Lord is our provider. He is our provider alone… I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to look up the word, Provider: It means to attend to.

He will attend to your needs, He will take care of all your wants. You know, as a farmer we say often “'n Boer maak 'n plan." Now that is Afrikaans and it means, a farmer makes a plan. I want to tell you not one of my plans has ever worked - Not one! But blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord. Often, it takes a lot of humility to get on your knees and say: “Please help me Jesus because I don’t know what to do anymore.”

Maybe you are listening to this message and are feeling that way today. Remember the old hymn “Trust and obey, for there is no other way to be happy in Jesus than to trust and obey.”

Just do it in God’s way and He will withhold no good thing from you.

“Seek first the Kingdom of God and His righteousness then all these (other) things will be added to us.”
Matthew 6:33

If we 'duck and dive' in our business we will get nothing. 'Fear the Lord' means to respect and to treat God with reverence. As a very new Christian and a young farmer, I read in the Bible in Leviticus:

“Six years you shall sow your field, and six years you shall prune your vineyard, and gather its fruit; but in the seventh year, there shall be a sabbath of solemn rest for the land, a sabbath to the Lord. You shall neither sow your field nor prune your vineyard.”
Leviticus 25:3

Now, I was an arable farmer and all we grew was crops. I had a really nice chat with the Lord... I said: "Lord, I want to do the right thing but if I leave my whole farm fallow (that means you don’t plant anything), I will go bankrupt.” I felt the Lord say, “Well why don’t you leave a seventh of your farm fallow and then after seven years, the whole farm will have rested for a year.” And that is exactly what I did. I want to tell you something now, God honoured His word - I had amazing crops, I think, just because I obeyed Him. In fact one day, an agricultural representative came to see me, an extension officer. He saw in the corner of the farm, weeds growing shoulder height. He said, “What is going on there?”

And I was a little bit embarrassed as a young Christian. I said, “No, I am just resting that land.” He said, “Can we go and have a look?” He said, “But it is full of weeds!” I said, “Ja, but The Lord has told me to rest it.”

And you know with that we started to talk about heavenly things and I had the privilege of praying the sinner’s prayer with that young man.

Just do what He tells you today and He will withhold no good thing from you.

Jesus bless you.
