Stand

Therefore take up the whole armour of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Therefore stand.
— Ephesians 6:13-14

I looked up the Oxford Dictionary to find out the literal meaning of the word, stand. It means: Remain stationary. This is not a time for you and me to run to and fro and to make a plan. None of my plans has ever worked. It is God’s plans that we need now. We need to remain stationary... stand.

It also means to remain on a specified course. Don’t be like a chicken, with its head chopped off, running to and fro. Keep the course that the Lord has given you and don’t move off it. Stand means to be in a specified state or condition, it means to be steadfast - That is right! Don’t allow COVID-19 to take you off your course - stand.

It means to be upright, what does that mean?
Do not be involved in things that are ungodly but be upright. Pay your debt, be a good father, be a good mother, be a good Christian. It also means to remain unaltered... Don’t change your ways just to make things go easy, remain steadfast. It also means to adopt a particular attitude towards an issue. Stop changing your mind all the time, that is why you are so fearful - You keep on changing your mind. God is God and He will undertake for you. He has never, ever let you down yet, has he? Well, be steadfast and stand and allow Him to look after you.

It means to be determined, have a determined effort to hold one’s ground. When everyone else is running around, stand and hold your ground. Keep your faith, remain loyal to God. And then lastly, it means to stand up and be counted. In other words, to state publicly one’s support for someone. In our case his name is Jesus and He will see us through!

Have a great Saturday today as you stand fast, and watch what the Lord is going to do for you and your loved ones.

God bless you.
