Our Compass

Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.
— Psalm 119:105

You might say, "There are certain parts of the Bible that I don’t understand." That’s okay, eat the meat and spit the bones out as they say. You don’t have to understand everything at one moment. God reveals His holy word to us step by step but the Bible is sacred.

“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.” John 1:1

Jesus is the Word, so we cannot switch Him off and on like a light switch. We cannot become a law unto ourselves and say: "I only believe certain parts of the Bible and the other parts are just old wive’s tales." You can’t do that. If we only believe certain parts of the Bible and not all of it, we are now making ourselves God and He will not tolerate that. You see, you can’t bend the law.

“The statutes of the Lord are right, rejoicing the heart;
The commandment of the Lord is pure, enlightening the eyes.”
Psalm 19:8

Our Father will not tolerate anybody bending the law - It is either all or it’s nothing, otherwise you and I are going to get lost. We either believe the word or we reject the word. You see, Billy Graham had that problem, the great evangelist.

One day he went into a forest and he opened the Bible. He put it on a tree stump and he got on his knees and he said: “Lord, I don’t understand everything in this Word but I choose by faith to believe the whole Bible from Genesis right through to Revelation... And look what happened, the Lord used him mightily.

As soon as you start to doubt the way, you lose the way. It's alright to say, “I don’t know” when someone asks us a question. We are not supposed to know everything - You and I are not God.

I have used the word of God for no less than forty years and I want to tell you, every time, He has directed me down the right path - not once has He taken me down the wrong road. Jesus, when He was in the desert and the devil attacked him with accusations, what did He do? He used the word. He said, "It is written: Man shall not live by bread alone." - It is written!

Now, if Jesus used the word of God, you and I need to use the word of God. Have a great week as you use the Bible as your compass, He will lead you all the way home.

God bless you.
